Crayon Castles is a family owned and operated business by a mother and daughter team, co-owners Angie Prejean and Rene Hightower.
Angie Prejean (daughter) began this company with an idea of wanting to earn extra income, while being a stay at home mom of two children. When speculating on different ways to create additional income, Angie decided that she should stick with what she knew best and to draw that knowledge from past experiences. She was a former advertising executive who knew retail stores and what they offered, a decorator with several dozen homes under her belt and of course, a wife and Mommy.
Drawing on all of the above knowledge sources, the one thing Angie realized is that she enjoyed unique décor items that were not just beautiful but practical as well. Angie also understood that she was not the only person who wanted specialty items for their homes. Each design client that she encountered had their own personal style and would rather NOT have items look like everyone else's "castle" in the neighborhood. The problem was the clients didn’t know how to find the right products to compliment their style. Although Angie knew where to find the items for their homes, she didn't have the time to help everyone with their needs and also be a stay at home mom. So Angie decided to put the merchandise all in one easy location (a website) for her clients and others to purchase on their own. Thus, Crayon Castles was formed.
While Angie was still creating the internet site, her mom, Rene, came on board as co-owner/manager/CFO. She has a degree from the New York School of Interior Design and extensive management experience in the Sales and Marketing Industry. Her skills and business knowledge, as well as being a working mom and "Nana", helped them organize and move Crayon Castles into a new direction and advanced the company into a much broader scale than what Angie had originally anticipated. She helped Crayon Castles move forward in national sales, as well as international sales. Rene gave the business a completely different outlook and enabled the two of them to be able to search the nation for the best quality items that were unlike other companies they had encountered.
We assist clients both locally and accross the USA in designing and decorating their homes, with not only items from our site, but Custom Designing Window Treatments, Bedding, Hand Painted Furniture, Custom Light Fixtures and more!
